At Veitch Penny, we understand the challenges this causes for Local Authorities.  Having worked for Local Authorities in excess of 20 years, our team have a wealth of knowledge of Local Authority procedures and can save the authority valuable time and money in executing those investigations by dealing with the case from the letter of claim.

Our Claims Handling service aims to work with the local authority to provide an efficient and cost effective investigation and to repudiate or admit liability as early as practical ultimately saving on costs and the avoidance of costly proceedings.

Our team already acts for Local Authorities across the country from Cornwall to Birmingham to Surrey and consists of 16 case handlers with additional support staff. We offer claims handling facilities for public liability, employer’s liability claims and Road Traffic Accidents, and are also able to offer our services to investigate or handle specific more complex cases such as Industrial Illness and Abuse Claims.

Packages are designed to suit each local authority as each authority is unique but we aim to include:

• Pre litigation investigation and if instructed, direct contact with witnesses.
• Assistance and advice regarding disclosure – we appreciate that this can be particularly difficult for Local Authorities.
• A report to the client with our views on liability, quantum, tactics, risk management issues and finally our recommendations.
