Experience:
Between 1982 and 2002 Simon practiced for the main part in Leeds, when he gained considerable experience in contentious matters in the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal, including construction contracts; contentious probate and inheritance; personal injury; law of property and; European competition law.
He acted for several Housing Associations and Housing Trusts when he advised on landlord and tenant law and conducted most of his own advocacy in the County Court, dealing with many trials, from possession cases to housing disrepair. He was regarded in Leeds as an expert in landlord and tenant law as it affected Housing Associations and Housing Trusts.
Simon developed an expertise in Commercial and domestic property matters whilst in Leeds which has remained his chosen area of law since he moved to Devon in 2002. His expertise in relation to domestic property includes, leasehold property; right to buy; shared ownership and equity release. His expertise in relation to commercial property matters includes leasehold property including public house leases; complex property development contracts; option and pre-emption agreements and; planning agreements.
